Your dueling system sucks, get a new one. Numbers make writing detailed/huge posts not worth it, and thus take the skill out of it all. My two cents.

Jordan hates long posts - point and fact...That and he wants in-battle duels to go fast, cause he thinks on other sites they just tie up the battle.

Lyle, the dueling system on Betrayal, in my humble opinion, is COMPLETELY ineffective. Most of the duels take forever to finish, rules have to be implemented in case somebody can't get on, and most people advance simply because others forfeit. I don't think a single dueling tournament has ever ended with a victor, though if there has been one the victor owed largely to the fact that many were advanced because their adversaries didn't post within a certain time frame.
I knew however that I would be subject to criticism if I removed it, so I have kept it on the site in everything but in-battle duels, which I created a new system for. The new system will just allow duels to be more like a tactic which people can use within fights. With it, duels will end within battles, and they will not tie them up like the duel did on Story of the Three Kingdoms (a duel which practically on it's own ruined the site). The system, in my opinion, is more effective, and there is also good reason to make good, detailed posts even within battle duels since there will be bonuses for doing so. They will give people incentive TO duel within a battle, and not just outside one, and they will also prevent trick duels, which in my opinion is unfair.

Your dueling system sucks, get a new one. Numbers make writing detailed/huge posts not worth it, and thus take the skill out of it all. My two cents. You have the option to duel in a duel center and make the longest and most detailed post you want. If you have a "problem" with the duel system you can have choices like don't duel in a battle or leave the site if it is so "bad". Like Slick said a duel in battle usually ruined sites si the dice system will help it speed it up by a lot more thus not holding up the battle.

Well he didn't say the site was bad. He just said the dueling system sucked. He's welcome to explain himself further and I would be happy to debate with him on which system is better.

I would go all Quan on your ass and just say the same thing over and over again, and eventually win. That duel on Sto3k was one of my best though, since I actually got it finished, and my opponent knew what he was doing as well. And that is my whole ideal on it all. You can't have a good duel between two weaker role players. And it's not as simple as filling up two or three pages with long posts describing your attack and next move. Most people get their ego's into it and think that truly you can dodge and move through every situation. No, dueling is about coming to an understanding between players and giving each other little things. It's not all about winning, but making it a show. Your playing out something, not attempting to breeze through it and win quickly. You don't spend ten minutes on a post, you think it over, get it running through your mind. The whole thing on winning is out smarting your opponent, or using something against them and when that happens both players will know it. That is if they themselves know what they are doing, and just how to duel. Doesn't come to you in a month after you've started. Took me a couple.. Bah, maybe I'm just rambling : P, I suppose I won't duel in battles in the end. u

arrgg, I think ye system of factories and markets is a bit over board.
people be spaming every 12 hours to increase based on stats, makes the effort of creating an rp post kind of trival, as ya can just log on, say "here my stat be!" and get the increase.
yarrrgg, in the end it be problem, sayz eye!!! ;D

It isn't a problem...I made a role play post - got a bonus of 70 to my Factory on top of my 80, 150 total. Truth be told I rather like this system, rather than fame which was a pain in the arse to raise.

Yep. Usually after two minor battles or one bigger battle you will get troop upgrades.

Yes - and no to pirate Xi, because that'd mean that you'd lose more men than gain....besides, that wouldn't explain the upgrade in weapons in your men, would it?
