*Kong's army arrived in Chang An, much to the delight of the forces he had left behind there. The city was under control, and no rioting had occurred, thankfully. The city seemed to be adjusting well to their new overlord, the Emperor of Zhao. Suo toured the city, answering questions and reassuring the general populace with grand words and recountings of the battle at Wan. The Emperor is immutable, unassailable. This empire would not fall while this generation of officers still drew breath, and the citizens would be safe. With the dismantling of Cheng after the battle at Wan, there remained precious few enemies with the power to oppose Zhao. Allies, meanwhile, were numerous and strong. Suo spent his entire day repeating these things to the various peasants, who always left with the contented expressions of citizens who felt safe within their country. The barracks were put to use for his soldiers to rest, recuperate after their long ordeal, and get a good couple of meals before the next march. They would be marching next for Han Zhong, the lynchpin of Ba Shu, and from there on to the last bastion of the old and decrepit empire of the Han. But that was at least a day from now, and Suo merely took his meal this day, and retired to his room to sleep.*

*Suo's army left the encampment at daybreak. Their target was the stronghold of Han Zhong, and they would arrive all too soon for the defenders of the city.*
