Why don't we try out Jordan's new system before complaining about it?

Yeah.... even my sim has Free Form duels.... Jesus. Your sim also has the biggest pussy in the world rping as Oda Nobunaga. Btw, sorry for making a big deal out of that in the game itself, had to be said, so I said it.

I say no outsiders should be allowed to put their spin on it. At least not in same thread. Nothing is perfect but the problem isn't the system. Its the extra post by people not even involved. They should know their place and If I were admin I'd tell them where it is *corner* I don't know anything about the system's. I can however understand dice. To let the admin be the admin. If the dice rolls unfairly then it is the dice not the admin. Maybe that will stop flames directed at admins. I know I wouldn't put up with it.

I curse Jorge out a lot, and I'm an admin too. ;P
Anyways, if you can't tell what your opponent does, then well, meh it's not worth it at all and it's just plain stupid. It doesn't suck, but it's very stupid. Stupid if someone would even attempt at dueling because skill no longer comes to anyone, especially when they don't know where their opponent is or how their opponent is attacking even until it's all done with. So yeah, go with it or w/e but don't expect any more duels at all coming from my officers.

But there is no skill in just posting for days about how you dodged your enemy either. And there is no skill in making a long-ass post explaining how you dodged your enemy for days either, or how you finally got the edge over your opponent by doing an uber-sweet attack. That's not skill at all. All you need is time and a little common sense. Duels the way they used to be done weren't at all realistic and they didn't at all require any skill. Plus they went on forever most of the time unless they ended for some stupid, frivolous reason. Any idiot could come up with a way to do some uber move to dodge an enemy. The only 'skill' involved was skill in how well you could confuse your adversary with ambiguity.
I just want to create a system where dueling is more like a tactic and risk that is taken by people which could potentially help them. Like a gamble. I want duels to be less of a contest of useless posting (a.k.a. people dodging in unrealistic ways for days on end until somebody forfeits, the game ends because of how long a duel takes or somebody finds a technicality within somebody's post) and more of a simple game that requires little ability and more luck rather than the ability to have hours of time to make some allegedly 'skillful' post.
If anybody can think of a better dueling system then I'm all ears. But I refuse to use the old system where duels are based entirely on how long you can prolong a duel by dodging and making a follow-up attack which is then unrealistically dodged until one of the aforementioned scenarios happens.

Kind of like dueling in RotK VI. I think it's cool, because duels usually slow down battles on these kind of sites, and it's boring for the rest of us.

A duel on one site i was on literally took so long that it ended the site because a battle was prolonged because of it. I could actually adopt the ROTk system of dueling (i.e. people send in via PM moves like strike, slice, parry, whatever and each move has a corresponding move it's strong against and one it's weak against) if people think that would work better. That would make it more like a game, sort of like a rock, paper, scissors sort of thing that I could easily incorporate a person's strength and HP stats into.

A duel on one site i was on literally took so long that it ended the site because a battle was prolonged because of it. Hay that was a great duel, screw you! Well I've learned from that, don't fight someone on a bridge that links one army to the other. ;P

Yeah, I heard about that. On like four other sites where they said that it killed the game

It was the best scene for a duel though, nearly 100,000 troops I think on each side of the river, chanting on and on and sending arrows over head.

And being bored to death while you two had a lame duel that nobody would ever win until one contestant or the other agreed to let the other person win.
I haven't been on a single site where that dueling system has worked though. It's not just that site (Story of the Three Kingdoms I think?) that it failed for me.

It would have worked, and it was working as I was winning and ahead of him. I remember doing some move that would have had him lose his weapon or something, or had him near death. But he pulls the whole: "My men shot me with arrows because I'm holding up the battle and thus I'm retreating now" maneuver.

So he essentially forfeited, which was one of the lame scenarios I listed above. Your exception proves my point. :/
