China had many battles where the kingdom's Navy really helped seal the fate of their enemy. So, in this game, we will be using Naval Units to help along battles, and for other purposes...
Tier 1 Boats
Transport Rafts - 20 for 5 Gold
Transport Rafts-Transport rafts only allow men to row from one part of a river or stream to another, and can also be loaded up with ranged units and used for skirmishing, albeit it won't be nearly as good as other ships. These hold 15 men each, are easy to make, row moderately quick and also keep a sail in case winds may turn the boats in a desired direction. The main problem with these boats is that they are weak and get toppled or destroyed easily by warships, but this is remedied by flanking them with other ships while they cross a particular section of the river.
Light Cruiser - 2 for 100 Gold
Light Cruiser-These small naval crafts hold little cargo and are inferior to most other fighting-class boats. Nonetheless they move fairly quickly. Siege weapons cannot really be stored on these and their main purpose is simply to give navies the ability to lightly attack and retreat. The boat only holds a maximum of 30 men-at-arms and even this number forces the people to stay in tightly compacted cabins.
Small Warship - 2 for 250 Gold
Small Warship-Warships are an improvement over cruisers in nearly every way. They hold more cargo, can carry more of the amount of men cruisers do comfortably (50) and can hold siege weapons, although only one per ship. They are not however as light as cruisers, and can therefore be harassed by them on the sea, although with capable enough archers and an equipped siege weapon the skirmishing light cruisers probably won't last long.
Tier 2 Boats (Capitial Factory must be at 1000
Heavy Warship - 1 for 500 Gold
Heavy Warship-Heavy Warships are tough vessels able to withstand a lot of pressure and maintain a fairly large crew (100 at most). They are sometimes called 'ramships' as well because of the sharp and long metal ram positioned in the front of the ship, which makes it effective in close-combat situations at sea; while a heavy warship lands a hole in an enemy's vessel, the crew on the boat can take boarding planks located on the heavy warship, quickly board the enemy's ship, fight its' crew and come back to their own heavy warship if the opposing ship shows signs of sinking. The heavy warship, of course, also can contain siege weapons on board (up to 2).
Fire Ship - 1 for 250 Gold
Fire Ship-This ship holds chemicals able to burn at sea and a few other general weapons of destruction. It may board other ships and is small and light which enables it to move quite quickly. Nonetheless, though fire ships are similar to simple cruisers, they are more expensive due to their firepower. Aboard the ship are several ceramic pots with flammable material. Sailors can fling these brands at enemy ships to light them aflame and cause havoc. This vessel packs a punch though only holds at most 30 men. There is no guarantee that when used in battle, crews on fire ships will successfully start a fire on enemy ships however, and fire ships also have somewhat low defensive capabilities themselves. They cannot hold siege weapons either.
Tier 3 Boats (Capitial Factory must be at 2000)
Han Chinese Junks - 1 for 600 gold
Han Chinese Junks-Han Junks are very strong ships, but they are still beatable. They safely can transport a crew of 200, can hold several tons of cargo and equip up to 2 siege engines. Already placed on the ship is one catapult (which can be equipped in addition to two other siege weapons). On the sides and front of the ship there are several rams which crew members in the lower area of the ship can use to damage opposing vessels that come too close. Han Junks are also more resistent to fire than other ships.
Flagships-For 50 gold, once you are able to obtain tier 3 units, you can turn any ship you have into a flagship, though you can only hold one flagship. Turning a ship into a flagship will give it offensive and defensive bonuses, and allow it to hold an extra 50 men. The flagship of your navy will be the leading ship of your armada though, so if it sinks or retreats from the battle it may demoralize your other boats and their crews in combat. On the other hand it will raise morale of other ships just by entering the field and staying close to your fleet.
