Creating a battle
First of all when you want to battle you must post in the current events board so admins know that your battle is taking place and can ensure everything goes smoothly. When you post there you must state the place you are invading and which force you are. After this is done an admin will create a few threads or even possibly a board for your battle. The battle will only take place in those threads or that board.
Fighting a battle
When fighting you must state how many troops are with you, as well as which officers you have under you command.
Example:
Gian Ye arrives with 1000 Swordsmen and Gu Yu as his officer.
Any troops or other things that are not mentioned in your entry post are not present at the battle. If you are planning any ploys that require secrecy, you must notify the Battle Mod in charge of your battle, so they know what it is taking place. It helps to show them where on the battle map you are, but this is not an absolute necessity. This is obligatory mainly so cheating can be avoided.
One important aspect of battling is turns. You cannot post every other post. You must wait for your enemies and allies to have their turn too. Who posts when will be specified by a battle moderator, and often times based on who enters a given battle thread at what time. If you are not currently in a particular battle thread then you can post there and say that your army is coming and begin battling. But after your initial entry into the fight, you will have to wait awhile before you can post again. If it is your turn and you do not post within 24 hours then your turn is lost. If you feel that you have to go somewhere and are unable to post then you can hand over control of your troops to someone else in your kingdom and inform a battle mod that you gave permission to the other person to use your troops.
Battle Losses
Of course during a battle you are going to take casualties. The battle moderator in charge of the fight will monitor and deduct troops and casulaties during the clash. The main factor in battle isn't how long your posts are or whether you outnumber your enemy necessarily. What will mostly count is how well you led your troops (how good you exploited your enemies' weaknesses while keeping your own guarded), and what ploys or formations you used. The best battle posts are not too long and not too short. They should be like a woman's skirt: Short enough to cover the subject but not long enough to make people lose interest. Stats will also factor into battles, though not as much as the other things. Mainly they will reinforce good battle roleplaying (this does not have to mean long posts) if you have high stat points in leadership and intelligence.
Battle Rewards
When you win a battle you may recieve rewards, and these may consist of several things, such as money rewards or stat rewards. Stat bonuses will be given by the admin at the end of the battle and they will be calculated on how you acted in the battle and the actions you took. Most of the time they will be pretty high. Expect stat bonuses ranging from 2-6 points, possibly for multiple stats, for every battle you are in, including territorial expansionist ones against NPC adversaries.
Regarding Time[/b]
If someone attacks you, and you fail to respond to the attack for 3 days then your enemy is victorious. This will allow active members to conquer at the expense of inactive kingdoms. If you are the leader of the kingdom and you know you are going to be inactive then it is wise for you to appoint a temporary leader in place of you (who will command your troops as well) and possibly get somebody from outside of the game to join your kingdom to fill in for you.
OOC Comments[/b]
This forum is not fascist. We understand that OOC comments must be made at times and we will not kick out anybody from battles if they make a few. However OOC comments must be kept to a minimum within battles, especially if a battle mod states explicitly that he/she doesn't want any more out of character statements to be made. If you want to get something off your chest regarding a mod decision or something somebody else posted, then please send a private message to a battle mod to have them deal with it (including me). If you do not understand something your adversary posted then drop them a private message instead of posting within a battle thread about the issue.
