*Kong Fa Xu strode through the open doors of the governor's palace, a pair of attendants following close behind him. The battle for the city had ended several hours previously, and the near-twilight sun was fading ever more quickly toward the horizon. The attendants were busily informing Kong of the recent developments of the city before it's capture by Yan. Most of it was not good news. None of the facilities were in any sort of working order, it seemed, and the town militia had actually been disbanded since before the Shaolin monks had arrived. The men fighting against them earlier had merely been regular peasants that had been given weapons and led by the marine horsemen that Kong had slain to a man. And with the loss of their lives came the loss of the reasoning behind the attack, or how so many people had been convinced to join it. Fa Xu sighed heavily. The day had been tiresome.*
You. Send a message to the Duke of Yan, informing him that the Shaolin monks' time of service has apparently come to an end. I want the message delivered by you personally. You, send out orders to begin a work detail and bring these facilities back up to par. Surely there was some sort of infrastructure before the hostilities. See that it is regained. I'll be by to each of the facilities to make certain that progress is being made.[/color]
*The two men bowed and turned away, leaving Kong Fa Xu to walk through the halls in silence. Fire flickered from the torches on the walls, and the halls were still bedecked in the colors of whomever had been the previous prefect. Orange? What a horrible color. These will have to be replaced tomorrow. Fa Xu personally checked on the throne room and guard's quarters and, finding them in order, posted several of his own guardsmen on duty throughout the palace, while several shifts were set in place to watch from the walls, and patrols throughout the city were set in motion. With so recently conquered of a city, security had to be top notch, and with Kong, it always was. He went to bed finally after all had been arranged, Ruo Zhang already asleep by the time he laid down.*
*The morning came uneventfully, and Kong was ready to address business.*
