And finally the waiting was over. Yuan Shu, sitting on his mighty steed, watches the rear, as clouds of dust come closer and closer. The main army of Cheng was about to arrive. The men were given some rest after the exhausting campaigns for the unification of Jing, but now they had the perfect timing. No Zhao officer had even thought about raiding the Cheng Camp and the weather was incredibly favourous. If Yuan Shu was to march out of the camp now, no-one from the enemy would even notice the army marching. The fog was thick and one could hardly see the other side of the pass through it. Could Heaven have given Yuan Shu an even clearer hint that he would be succesfull on this battlefield? No, Heaven was clear and Yuan Shu looks up to the skies as he thinks about it. All of the land would praise his name, as he was bold enough to stand up against a fake emperor, where others remained hidden, safely behind their high walls and thick gates.
And as Yuan Shu looks back to his army again, he sees they are standing in front of him, ready to march out. Xiang Yang wasn't far from here, so there was no way his men were tired. Yuan Shu rides his horse a bit to the side, so he is standing right in front of his army. Thousands of faces were watching him, men who gathered under the banner of Cheng for his one day. They would write history here, and smite the Zhao ranks. Zhao was clearly outnumbered and deep inside the Cheng Planning Halls, Yuan Shu and his advisor Jiang Wei had designed a plan that would make the 'mighty' Zhao troops fear the name of Cheng. If they were still in a state to fear anything, that was. For many of the enemy would die. The ruler of Cheng stretched out his arms to his army and laughs.
"Soldiers of Cheng! I praise your loyalty to me and my officers. For even though us, commanders, have brought everything to this day, YOU, the soldiers, the mighty warriors of Jing, are the ones who must claim the victory today. And I assure you, we WILL claim the victory today. For with your might and prowess, and with the excellent leadership of myself and my officers, no Zhao man can stop us in our advance. And so I say, march, march through the pass and cut down all resistance. For CHINA!!"
All men in Yuan Shu's army begin to cheer, knowing they are in their full right to claim the victory. The Zhao armies were weak and exhausted after the battle at Chang An and they would be no match for the Cheng armies, especially in this weather conditions, when the Zhao armies would not notice the Cheng forces have gotten to their camp, before their tents are set alight. Glory would belong to Cheng, no matter what. And the most beautiful thing would be to see Du Jung's face, when he would know he is beaten today, in this pass. For the damage that would be done to him and his forces today, would be devastating and Zhao would never regain their so called 'strength'.
And so the army of Cheng, under the lead of Yuan Shu and his trusted bodyguard Ching Chong, begin their march to the Zhao Camp. Not beating any drums, nor sounding any trumpets. The march was to be held in complete silence. As the Zhao Army had to be kept in the dark about this march. And while they would think the Cheng forces were sitting idly in their camp, to their own surprise, they would find out it was themselves that were sitting idly in their camp. And so, even with a great and decisive battle as today, the little things that make you smile in life were present.
Meanwhile, some lieutenants of Yuan Shu rides over to where Jiang Wei, Hui Can, Gongsun Zan, Huang Zhong and Guan Yu are standing.
"Lord Yuan Shu requests Generals Huang Zhong and Hui Can to join him in his silent march to the Zhao Camp. General Gongsun Zan and Guan Yu are to listen to General Jiang Wei's orders. Besides that, our lord wishes you all good luck in this battle and hopes you will all earn immortality today, by writing history. That is all."
The lieutenant bows to the famous generals, turns around and quickly hastens to join the marching main army again. No-one of the Cheng army would want to miss this fight. As the faith of China could be at stake here...
