The King watches the flanking units move to the other gate and quickly rebounds from this move, ordering the other crossbow units to meet them upon the walls, and for the infantry to also quickly move to the other gate and protect the stairs to the city. Next he would rally his cavalry, his entire life built into one speech, his mind racing and trying to find words proper for such a day, moment and battle..
"Spears to the front, these our your weapons! We ride to fight an enemy that out numbers us, and we ride to seek a death befit a King! Ride for these lands, and for our followers back at our true homes! We stayed here for the glory and to be known throughout the lands as the power-house of the south! Let us show them that our weapons our the same as their own, but our soul and power is ten times what they ever could imagine. No more words, crossbowmen! Fire! Cavalry! On ME!"
The crossbowmen did so, firing into the mounted horsemen that steadied their bows upon the gate. One hundred men did this, while others quickly shot off as far as possible, hoping to use the power of their crossbows against the vast enemy near the crops. Jiangzhuo Duosi was already off wielding a large menacing looking sword nearly four feet long, he held it above his shoulder with his right hand, his other grasping a kite shield as his armoured body clung to his warhorse. A deep fire swayed within his eyes, anger filling his body as his instincts melted with his emotions, the true warrior within him now flying across the field, one hundred and fifty other warriors of equal talent just behind him. Yet even more came from the now closed gates, the grunts quickly taking to the cavalry's rear as they held their two swords high, waiting for first blood. Once the horsemen plowed into a single unit, the swordsmen would quickly form around their flanks and prevent any troops from hitting their rear, hoping to keep the marine trained war machine in tact. They aimed for the siege engine..
Upon the walls the crossbowmen ran to meet the troops with ladders, the fact that they had no armour or anything of the like making them faster than any other of the troops. As they approached their targeted position they would immediately open fire and move with the infantry to get to the edge of the wall and fire upon the enemies scaling the ladders and moving upon the ground. They numbered two hundred. The infantry had already made their way to the section and had started fighting off the saber men as they used their sheer numbers to defeat their opponents. However, as more and more men appeared off the ladders failure began to creep up on the defenders as the tides began to change in favor for their enemy..
From the north east gate a single man appeared upon a small boat. He held a sword by his side and a letter in his sash. The letter was addressed to Chief Peiyun, a grand man with a fleet bigger than Zhao's. Also known as the brother to Jiangzhuo Duosi, the leader of Jiao Zhi. The two were quite distant, but were still family and for this supported each other in true times of need.. The messenger moved slowly through the swamp lands..

The men had gotten up on the walls now, with little effort, as it seemed only the archers were on top. This was a very dumb mistake the men of Jiaozhi had made. The swordmen would quickly cut through them, and secured the wall in a matter of minutes. When the swarm of crossbowmen entered the fray, the men of Xia held no fear. The voice of the Phoenix rattled in their heads, his commands from below sounded as though he was there fighting beside them.
"Don't panic, men of Xia, for it is only the weak men of Jiaozhi. The corrupt and hungry. Their leader is nothing more than a mewling infant, a man who relies on stupidity to win. He thinks he can stop us, he thinks he can some how prevent us from reaching our goal with hoar words, and slutty speak. But his men fail to realize they are not fighting the Nanman, which my ancestor did before me, but they are fighting men of China. Raise your swords, take the wall!!" The men let up a glorious cheer, championing against the enemy.
It seemed, for the men of Jiaozhi, for everyone they killed, another two replaced it, and then another three, and then more as they seemed to be getting up on the ramparts at an alarming rate, as though they had done this many times before. The bolts of the crossbowmen seemed to have a limited effect, as the saber and swordmen closed the distance, and the bowmen were now cramped together, finding it harder to fire.
The Phoenix had decided not to follow his men up on the the ramparts. Instead he decided to close in on the gate, to enter in that way. As he rounded the corner, he hand his pikemen up front, flanked by his spearmen who were holding the shafts at mid point, so they acted more like short spears. The crossbowmen, and the Phoenix were behind this line. On one flank was the fire, on the other was the wall, which was now protected by the sword men above.
The Phoenix knew he had an advantage, as (from what I understand) the main part of the army was on the northern gate, not the southern. And his men on the inside would be able to quickly open the gate from the inside. He looked up, and smiled at his men, as they were slaughtering all who stood in their path. Archers were no match for the saber and swordmen.
The Phoenix smiled.

(Did ya read my post? I'm guessing so, and I just didn't explain correctly what happened. Well here is what happened, and what stops you from doing a lot of what you posted: Yellow=Infantry Troops Red=Crossbowmen Blue=Crossbowmen on other part of wall As stated, the infantry immediately goes and heads you off before you could make it to the stairs, of at least hindered this attempt. The crossbowmen were light troops, only having crossbows and could have made the trip faster than other troops. Anyways, they also came and immediately began firing and moving with the infantry, so that they could get to the edge of the wall and then fire upon those on the ladders and ground.)

*As the battle raged on ahead of them, the men under Wang Ping's command were slowly wading and swimming through the river. The weather was calm, so there was no need to be afraid of drowning in the wild water. Wang Ping was lucky to have his Black Beauty still with him. He had grown up with the steed and taught it many things. Like swimming. And amazing but true, it actually came in handy this time. This time, the beginning of a long journey, that would eventually have to return them to the Great Capital, Luo Yang.*
*But Wang Ping dreamt too much. He still had to help his new allies in conquering this city. A large city, especially when looking at it from where he was. This was going to be their new home. Far away from the hometown of the men, but that didn't matter. They were home if they were together. And so, they were always home. The first to get some solid ground under his feet was Wang Ping. Though technically his steed was the first one. With water dripping from the animal and Wang Ping's clothes, he watches the battle unfold between the forces of Xia and the defenders. And when he looks behind him, he sees one by one, his friends walk out of the water. All of their clothes were soaked with water and it was going to be difficult fighting with the defenders with their clothes in this condition.*
"Brother! We can't let our comrades run into battle like this. It will hamper their fighting abilities and..."
"Say no more, my brother. Look up! The sun is shining, and in ffiteen minutes, we will all be dry. Besides, I know how difficult it is to swim to the other side of a river. We will rest a short while here. But remember we can't linger here too long. Our allies need us in the siege of Jiao Zhi."
*Wang Do nods his head and dismounts. Orders are given for the men to take a short break, but meanwhile, Wang Ping remains seated on his steed. Only he knows when their break will be over and when they will have to go and face death. It was a difficult task, but someone had to do it. And Wang Ping was more then ready to sacrifice himself for the others, if it meant they had some good relaxing time.*
"Brother, look!"
*Wang Ping then looked at his borther, who pointed at the river. A man, by the looks of it, a barbarian, was moving via the river away from the battlefield. Immediatly, Wang Ping knew something had to be done. No man would be allowed to leave the city like that, if he was a defender. And if he was one of the attackers, Wang Ping had all right to know where he was going to. So, he immediatly turned his horse and together with his brother Wang Do, who got himself mounted again, they rode back into the river. Meanwhile, the soldiers who were relaxing see their leaders jump into action and they decide to watch the scene unfold from the shore.*
*With great haste, Wang Ping moves towards the small floating raft. He pressed his steed hard, but it was nessasery to catch the man. And when within shouting distance, Wang Ping yells over to the man on the raft.*
"Hey you! Yes, you! Tell me what business you have! Where are you going?!"

*Zhun Yao carefully watched the field as the battle went on. For now, he would keep his men stationed, both guarding the rear and acting as possible back up forces. It was a task often underestimated by those who desperately wanted to fight, but Zhun and his troops knew better. So they waited, patiently, knowing their time would come soon and Zhun Yao turned around from time to time, making sure his men would keep their senses alert, it wouldn't be the first time a battle was lost because of overconfidence and lack of attention.*
*Then, Yao spotted the enemy riding forward, cavalry units preparing for the charge, with infantry to back them up. Knowing the two armies would clash soon, he ordered 200 of his Militia Swordsmen, lead by an officer, to march forward, while keeping his more veteran soldiers in reserve, in case something would go wrong. The Militia Swordsmen's task was to give extra protection to the siege equipment, which had a vital role in the taking of this city and, if possible, attempt to flank any enemy unit that came too close.*
(quite a bad post, but I'm having a headache, forgive me if I got anything wrong.)

The great armies of Xia, most likely considered a band of ruffians by current lords, were about to carve their names into the history books. On this day, the capital of Jiao Zhi would rise and the future of Xia would begin!
There was, of course, one problem to deal with.
The barbarian lords ruling the land, almost as an extension of another much larger kingdom, would not surrender so much bloodshed was necessary. Unfortunately for the attackers the gate would have to fall in order to charge forth. Or, would it?
South
From the gateway, sallying to meet the enemy, comes the barbarian leader with hundreds of soldiers!
It was a brave maneuver and clearly the rash tactics known to be used by the barbarian commanders. However, the line between bravery and insanity was very fine. Just the marine pike unit itself would deliver sufficient death to prove what a dreaded mistake the attack was.
"Defend!"
He Zi unsheathes Venom and flails the katana around while issuing the command to meet the enemy.
The swordsmen in the forest, 100 militia working on the flaming crops, are surprised by the attack but prepare to defend against the charging enemy. Marine pikemen, 200 in number, move forward to give battle with enemy riders while the 40 remaining mounted archers let loose into the enemy before falling back. The 100 marine hunters let loose over their comrades into the charging enemy while marine swords, 200 strong, move to fan out against enemy infantry.
With Zhun Yao's swordsmen moving to aid the siege equipment it was only a matter of time before the enemy would be overwhelmed.
"Crossbows, move with the cavalry and offer support!"
He Zi readies his katana to charge into the fray after calling out orders to his men.
"Cut off their retreat into the city!"
While the frontlines clash, the allied groups being far superior in number, 100 xbows and 100 light cavalry roll out toward the extinguished portion of crops. Their task was simple was dangerous. Take control of the gateway to halt any retreat by the enemy commander. The problem was that many enemy crossbows were firing down from the ramparts.
North
The 50 mounted archers in the north see a lone barbarian moving down the river on a small raft. Not only that but they also see the large army of Wang Ping finally making it to the shore of the main battlefield.
Two riders immediately head south to inform their leader of the enemy movement. There was no way they would allow word to be sent for reinforcements. Seeing Wang Ping moving along the shoreline, to gather information, it was time to act.
48 soldiers, armed with short bows, move toward Wang Ping to announce themselves before pulling back on their bows.
One man, a barbarian, moving alone in the north on a raft?
"Loose!" the captain of the group orders.

"They hold! My lo..."
"Bastards!"
The chief raises his sword and took his third life, the pikemen now deep within his lines and holding them without any true strength. To fight pikemen of such caliber would be impossible upon a horse, and all knew this. They had been decimated in the early charge, yet their allies quickly came to do whatever they could, moving round and fighting off both marine pikemen and marine swordsmen. Another pikemen went down as the Chief used his aged skill and quick sword to hunt for open spots in the enemy line, exposing them expertly every time too. The swordsmen around his lines used their two swords to one up on the enemy, though they would soon tire and become sitting ducks.. The Chief's mind raced as he thought..
He would die in these lines, and he knew it. The crossbows from above stretched and fired at any flanking units, their bolts slicing through the air like their comrades blades upon the ground. To their west hell had finally broke loose, but it did little to effect their movements, they were only holding the enemy army for the moment.
In the north the man on the small boat leaped from his somewhat safe haven and then began to expertly swim through the river, hoping to lose the tail..

((Yeah I did, but I missed the infantry movement, sorry))
Phoenix had about enough from the crazy people up on the wall, they were fighting like men without leadership, and dying just the same. The Vermilion Phoenix finally scaled the wall, after riding back, and stood up on the ramparts. His men were in a tough battle for the wall, and though could use his leadership now.
The man, Phoenix, looked dangerious and possibly insane. HIs eyes glossed over, his face red, yet with a twisted smile plastered on it, and his redish mask seeming splattered with blood. He was truly a terror to behold. He thrust out with his trident at any and all comers. Finally he reached the edge of the wall, after cutting through many men, his own men protected his back, and one man protected his front, should a crossbowman decided to impale him.
He spoke then, not to his men, or the army of Jiaozhi, but the people of Jiaozhi. "Men, women, and chlidren of Jiaozhi," He started. "I am the Vermilion Phoenix, but some may know my grandfather. A man who protected this country from the Nanman, and Si, a man who fought honorably under Yuan Shu. He was a Prime Minister and Grand General of Cheng, and a Great General under Zhao. He also personally protected this very city for years. He is known as Sima Mao, the One-Eyed Terror, and I am his grandson, Sima Feng. I ask you know, join again with the Sima family, for I have also found a lord to be loyal to. His name is He Zi. Come, JOIN WITH ME!" And with that he raised his trident, showing the very familiar weapon of Mao.
All of Feng's men roared with courage, and fierce loyalty to their lord. They persued their drive to run the soldier off the gate, and now Feng jumped back into, the lead them to the stairs. He seemed to move into the group, and with one swipe, take out five men. His strength was undeniable, and his leadership above great.
Feng had also decieved the army of his enemy, as he had a small group of swordmen head to the other gate, the one on the wall they so happened to be on. This allowed them to open the south-western gate. And thus his pike and spearmen were able to get in. Allowing them inside the city. (In other words, they went for the other gate *shrug*)

*Wang Ping realized the man on the small raft wasn't an ally of him. Bowmen, who carried the same colours as the leader of this small alliance, began to fire at the man and seeing the man jump into the water, Wang Ping knew he had to do something. He looked around, to find something to throw at the fleeing man, but he found nothing, as his horse was carrying him through the water. Then Wang Ping unsheated his sword, aimed and threw the weapon at the fleeing man. He was better off dead anyway and it would be the first blood Wang Ping ever got on his hands. But somehow he knew, there was going to be more blood.*

*The battle was obviously and there favor and Zhao Yun proudly watched how the rather inexperienced men of his army fought for his sake and theirs. Knowing their leader was watching, they did the utmost they could do, always pressing themselves to fight harder, strike swifter and graciously evade the enemy's blows. When the battle was over, he would greatly reward the men for their deeds, while giving the others some kind of reward too, for their patience.*
*Then his attention was drawn to the enemy men, fighting with such vigour, even though they perfectly realised this battle would be their last. Yun noticed he himself had already raised his hand and was ready to send in more troops, yet he decided not to. They deserved honor and an honorable fight was what they would get. Certainly, he didn't want to get his own men killed, but it would simply be rude to just overwhelm such brave fighters, even though they were the enemy. At that point, when he lowered his hand, a messenger came in, informing him of a new prescence at the river north of his current position. Hearing of the actions taken against the man, Yun immediatly sent back another messenger, requesting the man's capture.*
"Why kill a single man that could pose no threat, but could give us valuable information. I hope it isn't too late..."

To the north, a rider can be seen approaching the small detachment of He Zi's horse archers. Wang Ping and his army were also present along the shoreline; the former now moving through the river to engage personally. As the mounted missile group readies to send another volley the messenger yells out to them.
"Halt your attack!"
The lone rider, sent north by Zhun Yao, waves his hand frantically to get the attention of the attackers. He had been given orders to deliver to the general in charge of this area.
"General!" he yells.
His horse kicks up as it reaches the edge of the water, the beast untrained in swimming, and soon he informs Wang Ping of his leader's orders.
"Sir, my lord, Zhun Yao, has sent me to request that you capture the enemy for questioning!"
All horse archers present, under the command of He Zi, lower their short bows after the orders from Zhun Yao come in.
Hopefully, the flying sword of Wang Ping does not kill the soldier but at best wounds him. This way information on any allied tribes or other armies in the region could be dealt with. After all, information on the enemy is priceless and one of the most important parts of warfare; comparible to strategy and strength. If one knows the capabilities and strength of the enemy than a proper strategy can be devised.
In the south, the desperate struggle for the defenders continues. They were fighting bravely and the constant barrage of bolts from the ramparts was helpful, but with the Vermillion Phoenix getting atop the walls there would be hell to pay. Payment in blood, of course!
Soon enough the ranks of infantry would thin, upon the city walls, to eventually leave the missile units exposed to the slaughter that is the Phoenix!
"Commander!"
He Zi yells out to the enemy leader after cleaving the head of a defending rider. His marines were fighting well and they would not allow the enemy to snatch a victory from the clutches of defeat.
"If you were a man of honor, you would throw down your weapon and spare the remaining men you have!"
The attempt, though futile most likely, was to have the barbarian surrender to allow his soldiers life. If the defending leader had any hope of pushing back his enemy than this would never happen. but if he can see the battle as being hopeless it may just work.
Either way, a steady front of marine pikes and marine swords hold back the sally unit of the barbarian commander. With Zhun Yao's reinforcements of swordsmen the fight would become a kill festival.
As was previously stated, two groups of soldiers were sent around the left flank of He Zi's army. Light cavalry and crossbow troops move toward the southern gate, the latter offering support fire against the enemy upon the walls. When the cavalry sets up, out front the gate, they turn to face the rear of the enemy commander's unit.
The two missiles units exchange bolts, to which the troops on the ground get the worse, while the cavalry begins its pincer attack!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
-Attempting to capture the messenger in the north
-Continuous battle with marines on the front
-Crossbow attack against ramparts
-Pincer attack by light cavalry

"Though I may not claim the head of your capital today, another will come, ten times your own. The people of the south, the people of the Oceans will rise where I have fallen, and hell itself shall come down upon you, just like my own blade has today!"
The barbarian lord yelled out as he thrust his sword through another man, closing him practically as he shifted weight and then brought the sword off to his other side, in which he slew another man quickly. Blood was now upon his figure completely, his helmet and armour not so soaked the blood could not be washed out. He raised his sword again and killed another, slicing his head off as another foe found an opening and took the chance. He used his reach to stab the commander, while another stabbed his horse, and then another planted his pike into his left shoulder. He was not done though, pushing, exerting as his body raced, blood flowing out from his pumping veins at impossible rates.. He made on more slash, killing another man and then fell from his horse, already dead from blood loss. His horse fell close to him, dieing with its master upon the field, but inches from him.
The men noticed this and fought harder and faster, wishing to avenge their lord, though all of the men of Jiao Zhi knew that he and them too would eventually die in this charge.. The swords around them pushing in horizontally but fell without doing much damage. The pikes were holding and the cavalry was soon to be wiped out, blood pouring from each one as they tried to die with what pride and glory they could take with them to hell.. And then they were slaughtered, the entire field shaking as the ranged troops quickly silenced their attacks, hoping not to get caught hitting a comrade.. Surely they would turn round and then fire upon the ramparts..
The crossbowmen had taken heavy losses from the enemy, and the infantry was already destroyed, the two hundred crossbows also engulfed by their enemy as what hope they all had diminished. Half moved over the walls, into enemy fire and fired their bolts into the enemy, then reload and fire again, all without taking cover. The other half would stand in three lines facing the men from the ladders, firing wave after wave into their lines as they charged them..
In the north the man swimming sensed what came from the air, turning round quickly and drawing in sword in the same movement as he neared the shore. He managed the barely deflect the blade, showing what prowess he had about him. Next he took out his letter and ate it quickly, chewing it up as well. His blade rose up to his neck as he was prepared to slice his own throat, his eyes beady and strong while he looked across the shore.. A archer misfired though, piercing his shoulder and sending him to the ground, his blade no longer near his hands..
Losses: Jiao Zhi- Everything but: 40 Bowmen (shooting Dark's troops) 50 Bowmen (shooting at Phoenix's troops)
Phoenix- 30 Random units (troops are mixed between sabers and swords, you go ahead and see what you lose; try to even it out)
Dark- 15 Marine Pikemen 10 Marine Swordsmen
Zhun Yao- 20 Militia Swordsmen
